The Vision Lab

Privacy

Last updated 4 October 2026. The short version: people vote without giving a name or email, and we collect only what the product needs.

If you vote or add ideas

  • You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email to vote.
  • Your votes are never shown with your name. Organizers see results, not who voted for what.
  • We store your votes, the ideas and comments you add, and a random code kept in a cookie so the site remembers you in that project.
  • If your organizer sent you a personal link, they know who they sent it to. They don't see how you voted.
  • If you add an idea, you choose whether to keep it private or show your name if it finishes in the top 10.
  • Some projects ask for a group, such as a team or office. It's optional. Results are only broken down by group when at least 5 people are in it.
  • To limit abuse, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your network address, not the address itself. We also record which kind of link you came from, such as email or Slack, so organizers can see where people joined.

If you run a project

  • We store your name, email address and a scrambled form of your password, plus your projects, invitations, decisions and reports.
  • We email you only about your own account and projects: for example, a note when a project finishes. Each of those has a link to switch it off.
  • If you name an owner for an idea and choose to email them a brief, we send that one message on your behalf. We don't add them to any list.
  • We never email the people who vote.

What we don't do

  • No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data.
  • No tracking across other sites.
  • The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in or remember you in a project.

Who handles the data

The site runs on Vercel and stores data in a Turso database. Organizer emails are sent through Resend. These services process data for us and for no other purpose.

Keeping and deleting data

  • Organizers can delete a project at any time, which removes its ideas, votes and people.
  • To have something removed, or to ask what we hold about you, email trevor@thevisionlab.com. If you voted anonymously, tell us the project and roughly when, and we'll do what we can. We can't identify anonymous voters, so we may not be able to find your data.
